Artists - Artworks Network - Tyler Notes

December 3, 2007 from 1:30-3:00 PM

Tyler Junior College
Apache Room 1
Tyler, TX

Meeting Participants:

April Sullivan, Artworks Director, VSA arts of Texas
Troy Parker, visual artist
Jud Parker, father of visual artist
Andrea La Vigne, visual artist

Notes from meeting:

April Sullivan discussed the new programs of VSA arts of Texas. Information can be found at the VSA arts of Texas web site.. The artists talked about what they have been doing this year. One topic of interest for future meetings would be how an artist talks about his or her art comfortably. A Co-op gallery space for artists with disabilities would be ideal.

Next Meeting:

Due to small participation, we talked mostly about plans for a meeting in spring. We decided on the first week in March (maybe Tuesday) at the Tyler Junior College West Campus for better parking and later in the day around 4:30-6:00 pm. Snacks will be provided and we will change up the marketing to make it more inviting to professionals in the arts or disability fields. We will get marketing out earlier and send out flyers through the local art leagues. Jud will make personal visits to people to let them know about the program before they attend. We will also invite the media.
