Artwork by four artists from El Paso: Elena Octuna Batista, Lorene Glenn Rogers, Leonardo Ceniceros, and Elisha Rachelle

El Paso is the only Texas city that is not part of the Central Time Zone. It is on Mountain Time. El Paso is a border town eight hours from Austin, one hour behind the rest of the state, and more in time with it's neighbors of Arizona and Mexico. This exhibition features the artwork of four artists whose work is highly influenced by their place in El Paso and their sense of place as artists with disabilities living on the border.

In the Studio Gallery we are featuring the final projects for the 2010 WAL (We Are Learning) Micro-Enterprise in the Arts Class. On view will be a line of original hand made blank greeting cards, mid-size mono-prints, and wall hangings. The artwork displayed emanates from our last curriculum unit on print making and includes rubbings, stamping, and mono-printing.

This project would not have been possible without the collaboration and cooperation by many. A 'high five' and thank you to: The WAL Head Teacher, Mr. Brandon McKeithen, WAL 10th Grade Scholars, WAL Teaching Aides, WAL Families, VSA Texas Teaching Artist and Inclusive Arts Consultant, Carol Stensrud, VSA Texas Artworks Director, April Sullivan, VSA Texas Executive Director, Celia Hughes
