Artworks: Creative Industries is VSA Texas’ career development program for emerging artists with disabilities. The program serves artists around the state who, in addition to the regular challenges faced by artists starting their careers, face unique challenges of their own. To meet these challenges, Artworks: Creative Industries provides skills training and professional development resources in all artistic disciplines – music, visual art, performance and literature. Artworks: Creative Industries supports artists at any stage of development: youth transitioning into college or work, beginners just learning to draw and accomplished artists preparing to start their own business.
Through a variety of regional workshops the Artworks: Creative Industries program offers customized services, including:

The NADC would like to announce a new report "Cultivating Talent: Improving Access to Arts Careers for Artists with Disabilities."
A review of the Statewide Forums program from 2002-2013 demonstrated that the Statewide Forums increased confidence, artistic skills and business/marketing skills, connections to other artists and arts employers, and led to sales or short term employment of artists with disabilities. State arts agencies discovered artists with disabilities, including those that were already part of their networks; developed new partnerships with arts and disability organizations, and increased their knowledge about the needs of artists with disabilities and how to include them in their programs. For more information on the impact of the Statewide Forums program and identified best practices read the report: "Cultivating Talent: Improving Access to Arts Careers for Artists with Disabilities."
This report was supported, in part, by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Grant #11-3900-7003.
