VSA arts of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to create a society where people with disabilities learn through, participate in, and enjoy the arts. Working at the intersection of multi-disciplinary arts, education reform, and disability rights, we serve as an international model in which people with disabilities have complete access to cultural, artistic and educational venues, programs and employment.

Start With the Arts Workshop

On Saturday, February 27, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., VSA arts of Texas will conduct Start With The Arts, a FREE hands-on workshop incorporating music, drama, dance, and visual arts. The workshop will be held in the community room at the Benbrook Public Library, 1065 Mercedes Street. Teachers, parents and children are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and prepare to have fun! Workshop leaders include: Celia Hughes, executive director of VSA arts of Texas; Jan Stumbo, teaching artist; and Lauren Gower, teaching artist assistant. Both Stumbo and Gower have been teaching artists at Leonard Middle School since 2008.

Start with the Arts workshops will be held at the Benbrook Public Library the fourth Saturday of the month in February, March, April and May 2010. Read more about Benbrook Workshops.
