Promoting Self Advocates as Speakers
VSA Texas' Opening Minds, Opening Doors: Promoting Self-Advocates as Speakers program is seeking new participants for our May class!
In this class, each participant will write a personal story and develop the presentation skills needed to deliver it in public. Find your voice, tell your story, and build the skills to advocate for disability rights.
Classes will be held from 1-4 pm on Saturdays, May 3 - June 7, in Room 101 of the AGE Building at 3710 Cedar Street in Austin.
You may download the program application here. Applicants must be self-advocates with developmental disabilities ages 18 and up. The application deadline is Monday, April 14th, at 5:00 pm.
Financial Support for Opening Minds, Opening Doors: Promoting Self-Advocates as Speakers is provided by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities and made available by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
