New 6-Week Class: Preparing a Powerful Story for Presentation

As a volunteer project assistant, your duties will include serving as a general assistant to the instructors, providing one-on-one coaching and support to participants, scribing or describing for participants when necessary, and other duties as required. Volunteers MUST be 18 or older, attend an orientation, assist during the full six-week class, and comply with VSA Texas' policies.

VSA Texas is hosting a Side by Side opportunity for young adults with developmental disabilities ages 15-22 to work with professional artists in the filmmaking industry through classroom settings, hands-on experience, on-location work and a final short film.
Volunteers are needed to assist the filmmakers in the classroom by assisting the students as they learn film skills, providing one to one support to the students and other duties as required. Volunteers will work within the small groups as they write, record and edit a film. You also must be 18 years or older and be able to commit for the entirety of the class or else discuss shifts. A short orientation is required.
June 15-19, 2015: Students will meet as a group to learn basic film skills through lectures and hands on exercises. The next two weeks, June 22- July 3, 2015, the small groups will meet at various locations including the classroom, the studio, and on-location filming sites to make a short film.
