VSA Texas offers a number of fun and engaging volunteer opportunities. Whether you want to learn about working with people with disabilities, or simply like participating in art activities, we can help you find a volunteer position right for you.

Art in the Park

VSA Texas and McBeth Recreation Center are hosting our annual outdoor hands-on arts festival for kids of all ages and abilities. This inclusive festival is held on the grounds of Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E Segovia St, Austin, TX 78702. Students from AISD and surrounding schools attend the festival to enjoy a day of art making and entertainment! The festival is open to the public to encourage home-schooled children to attend. We need VOLUNTEERS!!!

For a fun-filled day of visual arts, crafts, performing arts, and entertainment.

Hands-on fun for everyone!

Volunteer Opportunities:

Opening Minds, Opening Doors: Promoting Self-advocates as Speakers

Project Assistant
The Opening Minds, Opening Doors project trains adults with disabilities to write and present their personal stories at conferences and other events in Texas. In this six-week class, each participant will write and revise a single story and develop the public speaking skills to present that story to live audience. As a project assistant, your duties will include serving as a general assistant to the instructor, providing one-on-one coaching support to participants, scribing or describing for participants when necessary, and other duties as required.

Your Commitment:

- Orientation – Saturday, March 3, 2018 1:00pm – 3:00pm
AGE Building, Room 101, 3710 Cedar Street, Austin, TX 78705

- Six-Week Class – Saturdays, March 10, 17, 31 & April 7, 14, 21, 2018 12:30 – 4:30pm
